The Natural Fusion

This image is of a 52 year old female that presented with a stabbing pain in her back around her shoulder blade.  In the full view you can see that her cervical spine has no curve and is slightly forward leaning.  This increases the pressure on the lower discs and vertebrae.  Wolff's law states that the living tissue will remodel to the demands placed on it.  The demands on these joints have far exceeded the capacity for far too long.  Lets take a closer look.

See the top bone on this picture looks square, then the next two have extra bone on the edges with new bone in the front between them.  These two bones have fused themselves together in response to the increased pressure.  This took many years probably decades to do.  She would have occasional pain but it would go away, then return, and so on.  This is a permanent problem.  If you are having intermittent pain, get checked, very easily with a couple of x-rays, before permanent damage is done.
